GERMAN SWINDLER

MINER AS “PRINCE.”

(Australian & N.Z. Cable Assn.)

LONDON, Deo. 27.

Posing as Prince Wilhelm ol Prussia (grandson of the ex-Kaiser) travelling incognito as Baron Korff, a 20-year-old miner in the Baltic Provinces had a hectic masquerade in which he was feted by civic and military authorities. He sat in the Royal box at the theatre at a gala performance tendered in his honour, after which the Mayor and high army officers paid him their respects. The young miner accepted the invitations of Count Von Nassau and Von Bluecher to lead a hunting party at Tuengeda Castle, where he occupied the best suite. When he heard, however, that the father of the ■ real Prince Wilhelm was arriving to join the party, he borrowed' substantial sums and then vanished.
