The first acceptances for the New Zealand Trotting Cup were received today. Imprint was the only nonacceptor. INANGAHUA TROTTING CLUB. (Our Own Correspondent.)
REEFTON, Sept. 15. A meeting of the Inangahua Trotting Club Committee wls held on Tuesday, Mr G. G. Lockington (President) in the chair. Correspondence was read from Messrs F. Roche and H. Brinkman, accepting the positions of starter and handicapper respectively, and from Mr J. B. Norris, secretary of the ifew Zealand Trotting Association, stating that the club’s programme had been passed. A letter from Mr J. Nohra asked that the Club deny the false reports that he was connected with bookmakers. It was carried unanimously that the request be complied with. It was resolved that the County Chairman be asked to declare a holiday on October 16, from 11 a.m. till 6 p.m. The Chairman, Mr Newton, and the Secretary were appointed a sub-com-mittee to interview members and others regarding the appointment of gatekeepers, etc., foi’ the meeting. It was decided to sell the privileges relating to the meeting by public auction on October 2. The question of refreshments was discussed at considerable length, and it was decided that afternoon tea tickets only be supplied to the Committeemen. The Secretary was instructed to write to Mr H. D. James ,asking that he conduct the totalisator at the meeting. Mr Lowden offered the use of his cars gratis on race-day, and the offer was accepted with thanks. The finances of the Club were discussed, and it was decided that all members should canvass for new members. The question of the amendment of rules, in respect to the retirement of half of the Committee annually, in place of all, was deferred.
