ROBBED AND DEPORTED

AUCKLAND, February 1. Vincent Stanley Burchall, 20, charged with being a stowaway on the Aoi’angi from Vancouver, is a Wanganui boy, who woi<ked his way to America some months ago, having about £l3O, of which he was robbed in San Francisco. ' He was detained in the United States and Canada and ordered to be deported. He got his liberty in Canada, and stowed away on the Aorangi. When two days out he gave himself up to the captain. He behaved excellently on the voyage. A remand was afeked to let accused communicate with his parents m Wanganui.Mr Poynton, S.M., said that rt was a case of the prodigal son returning. Perhaps the parents will now kill the fatted calf and pay his boat fare. He was remanded till February 8.
