, ARRIVAL AT GREYMOUTH

On arrival of the express on Saturday qfternoon, the British bowling team, which is touring the Dominion, was accorded a civic reception. The Mayor, Mr. W. H. Parfitt, extended to the team, which, comprises forty players, a welcome to Greymouth. He said that the West Coast was glad to be visited by bowlers- whose high traditions and good sportsmansh P had preceded them. The visitors would find the Coast players were good sports also. He hoped that, win or lose, the visitors would enjoy their visit to Greymouth. Mr. E. D. Wright, manager of the British team thanked the Mayor for his words of welcome. cheers for the visitors, who responded with three cheers for the West Coast bowlers. A party of ten ladies travelling with the British bowling team arrived at Hokitika on Friday night. The ladies travelled from Christchurch to Arthur’s Pass by a goods train and were met there by Newman’s cars and conveyed to Hokitika. On Saturday the party left for Waiho Gorge, whence they return to-day, travelling north to rejoin the British team, at Greymouth, and to-morrow going on to Westport. On Saturday evening the members of the team were guests at the “Diggers” entertainment at the Opera HniißA.
