DAIRYING PROSPECTS. SYDNEY, December 2. The Agriculture Department reports that widespread' rains in November banished the spectre of a drought, and the prospects l in the dairying industry now promise a- record season.
BACON FACTORIES’ DISPUTE. MELBOURNE, December 2
The extension of the ham and bacon workers’ strike to the engine drivers and other- unions employed in the industry is feared, following the refusal of the employers to hold a conference with the strikers.
FEDERAL ELECTIONS. SYDNEY, December 1. Victoria and Tasmania are the only States to have completed the returns the Senate seats. In both cases iour ministerialists have been returned. The distribution of preferences is continuing in the other States. ' In the House of Representatives, the state of parties will, be fifty-two Ministerialists (comprising thir ynine Nationalists, thirteen Country Party) and twenty-three Labour.
DEPORTATION APPEAL, SYDNEY, December 1. The High Court continued the hear, ing of Tom Walsh’s case to-day. It overruled counsel’s objection that the case had been improperly removed to the High Court. The senior counsel for Walsh then, submitted that there was no legal warrant for Walsh’s detension as the sectip»• o£ the .Act, under which he was being detained, was ultra vires of Parliament under Iho Constitution. Argument was procW'ding when the Court rose.
