Kinsey 6/1, 8/6, 6/2. / WELLINGTON, August 29. At the annual meeting of N.Z. Lawn Tennis Association, the question of sending teams of young players to Australia in view of the visit of Ffench cracks to that country was referred to a committee. After discussion on daylight saving which was generally supported, it was decided td ask all clubs by circular to give their views. Mr. W. N. Levy (Canterbury) was elected president. The management committee was elected as follows: Messrs Denniston, Berry, Henderson, lorns, Longuet, White-Parsons and F. Wilson.

HOCKEY. (From Our Own Correspondent). WESTPORT,' Aug. 28. In the hockey matches to-day, played under ideal weather conditions, Uniteds defeated St. John’s in the men’s game, in the final for the Stephens Memorial Cup,..presented in memory of Eddie Stephens, a victim of the Great War, and the first to go from Westport. Eddie was a keen hockey player before enlisting. The match yesterday was won by United by three goals (Larsen 2, J. Caldwell 1) to 2 goals (Stowell 2)7 At Millerton, Westport aiicl Millerton ladies, winners respectively of the town and country sections, met in the first of the best of three games. Millerton won by one goal to nil. The next game will be played at Westport and if the latter turn the tables on Millerton, the final, will probably be pbved on a neutral ground. The other ladies’ match, School v. Ramblers, was won by School by one goal to nil, the goaler being Miss Elsie Stevens, who has quite a good record as a scorer for the season.

BULLER RUGBY. WESTPORT, August 28. In glorious wdather, Westport Technical High School defeated Hokitika High School at Rugby by 15pts to 11. The game was always interesting and Hokitika led 6 (Marks two) to 5 (try by Friend converted by Bird) at half time. In the second

spell, Friend added two tries for Westport, Bird converting both, and King scored for Hokitika, Davidson converting. The Wairarapa Rugby team arrived to-night and will play Buller tomorrow. They had a splendid trip from Nelson to-day, with fine weather all the way. To-night they are being entertained at a ball by the Buller Rugby Union.
