SYDNEY GIRL CHOSEN

FOR ZIEGFELD FOLLIES. LONDON, August 24. Mr Florenz Ziegfeld, producer of Ziegfeld’s Follies, New York, has selected two girls out of 400 applicants. One is a Sydney girl, Miss Blanche Satchel, aged 17 years. “I made my first appearance in Sydney in 1915, as Lord Fauntleroy,” said Miss Satchel. “In the last six years I have studied dancing and singing. Two months ago mother brought me to London, where I joined Prince’s Follies. Mr Ziegfeld hardly looked at me, but asked me to return later. When I returned Mr Ziegfeld said : ‘You sail for America on Wednesday. I am cabling to father in Sydney. He will miss me, but he will understand.” Blanche is described as “a goldenhaired girl, with roguish curls and brown eyes, and a slight figure.” Miss Satchel was formerly a member of the ballet in J. C. Wiliamson pantomimes.
