i- ...KUMARA,, August 29.

Whilst at, work at ,the Taramakau Timber Comp,any,’s> : mill this morning, a man named Geo. Hunt had two fingers of the right hand badly mutilated. He was' conveyed to the Westland Hospital. Reminiscences of, the old gold-dig-gings at Kumara persisted ,at the meeting of; the Jubilee Finance- Committee last, evening , and the-many reminders of., the town’s past stirring history, suggested, .very forcibly what will take place next March.when the xemnant of the old pioneers and past and present citizens of Kumara meet round l the festive board in a great reunion.

The Treasurer, Mr R. Ford, reported that good progress' had been made in the matter .of donations given and promised, and many suggestions for widening the circle.of appeal for assistance are to be acted upon.

Mr Evenden expressed the opinion that they would need all the financial assistance possible if hospitaltiy was to be given to aill those expecting to be. present.. He already knew of several who , were coming long distances to be present at the re-union, and he thought it would be wise if old residents were asked to communicate early with the secretary to ensure their representation. The' Hon. Secretary (Mr J. A. Peever) reported that arrangements were: in hand, and.that every opportunity would be given to .those intending to be present to make early application for seats at the re-union banquet. . j«... - . •
