TROWERN v. HILL.

WELLINGTON, June 16. About 3000 saw the professional lightweight contest to-night between Reg. Trowei’ii (N.Z.) 8.5, and Jimmy Hill (Australia), 9.7 g. Eight rounds were sufficient for Trowern to estabdish his superiority, in which he inflicted heavy body punishment during the infighting, and also scored in leading. In tiie sixth round, Hill tired, but the seventh round was very fast. Hill went for a knock-out, but Trowern made him miss repeatedly. The eighth round was gruelling , with Hill weakening, and .at the end of the round his seconds threw in the towel. A difference in years stood Trowern in good stead. HEENEY’S VICTORY. (Australian and N.Z, Cable Association.) CAPETOWN, June 15. Tom Heeney (13.8) and Johnny Squires (12.6), the respective New Zealand and South African heavy-weight champions, met here in a. 20 throeminutes’ rounds fight. Up to tho seventh round the contest was not exciting. There were occasionally heavy bouts. Heeney then tried for a knockout, and in the eighteenth round both men slipped to the floor. Squires failed to' come up to time, and the decision was awarded to Heeney. The pair had previously met at Johannesburg, when Heeney also won on points.

COOK DEFEATED.

NEW YORK, June 16.

At Boston, George Cook, the Australian heavyweight boxer, lost the decision in a ten round bout to Young Stribling, of Atlanta.
