MOONLIGHT NOTES

■ J — (Our Own Correspondent.) The Moonlight Gun Club held the second shoot for- the silver cup presented by Air Le Compte, to be won twice at interwals, on the club grounds last week-end. Fifteen competitors faced the barrier, and some keen shoot, ing was witnessed. The cup was formerly in the possession of' Mr AlexThomson, but on this occasion fell to the gun of Dave Kidd, junr., with the creditable score of 18 (9 first barrels) out cE a possible of 24. Danny Doolan and Stan Whitehead tied for second place which in a most exciting struggle was won by Doolan. The cup car. ried with it the club’s trophy (Loewe pipe) for first place, and Mr -Nobra’s (cardigan Jacket) I’Jor second. Jilni Doreen won the consolation prize (shaving outfit), D. Doolan being second and getting a safety razor. Dave Kidd, junr., won the sweepstakes, Jack McCormack being second. Visitors were present from Ikamatua, Totara Flat, Ahaura, Blackball and other place's, quite a number of ladies coming to see -the sport. A nice luncheon was provided and ably dispensed by the ladies. The Club is.fortunate in having such an indefatigable secretary, Bert Cropp, whose untiring efforts have placed it in such a satisfactory position, having at present a membership of 80, and a nice credit balance cai--n'ied forward for future operations.
