O— —- ’ OPENING OF SEASON. The Rugby football season on the 3 West Coast will be officially opened on Saturday, and this year greater interest is being taken in the-codeJhan for some time past. The Hokitika Sub Union has joined forces with the West Coast Union, and some interesting games between players of, the two districts will be seen.

On Saturday the Greymouth ‘Stars will play Hokitika Excelsiors, the match commencing at Victoria Park at 3.15 p.m. Mr T. Mclntosh will referee the .'game, and a hard fought tussle is expected.. As a curtain-raiser to the senior match a junior game will be played between United A and Cobden, commencing at 1.30 p.m. Mr W. Williams will referee. ’• On the B Ground at 3 p.m., Blaketown will meet,Stars, Mr J. Beaumont acting as referee, and as a preliminary to this event Mr >.N. Kittelty will referee a fourth grade inarch between Stars and United B, the game commencing at i., ! 30 p.m. A large attendance is expected. The , following, will represent the United Seniors against Kiwis , on Saturday at Hokitika: —Mori, Jamieson (3), Warnes, Richmond, Lamberton, Stephans', Dodson, Chatteris, Ames, Black, McKay, Grant, Tindale, Spora, Walton; Train, leaves at 1 o’clock. The following will represent Star Fourths in their game With Uniteds at 1.30 p.m. on the “B” ground,—Brown, McMasters, Olsen, Chow Fong, Spencer, Gordon (captain), Richardson (2), Bond, bunshea, Hodgkinson, Galbraith, Coombe, Furness, Eatwell, Barrow, Codyre, Dennison, Groom* Boswell, Currie. Players are requseted to be at the Star Hall at 1 p.m. The following will represent the United Juniors to play Cobden on Victoria Park at 1.30 p.m.Foster, Lees, Phillips, Jones, Bunt, Rodgers, Walls, Kitchingham, Grooby, Heinz, Exton, Boddy, Hughes, Butcher, Winchester. Emergencies: Woollett, Laing, and Sotheran.
