PEACE PRIZE
LORD CECIL’S SPEECH. (Reuter.) NEW YORK, Dec. 29. Viscount Cecil has been presented with the 25,000 dollar peace award;and the medal given under the Woodrow Wilson foundation for meritorious service in the cause of international cooperation and peace. In accepting the award, Lord Cecil asserted that the advance during the past live years in the direction of international co-operation was lit.cle short of marvellous.
Praising the United States for consistently standing for peace, he said that he would not utter a word of criticism regarding the attitude of the United States towards the- League of Nations. He stressed, however, the accomplishments of the League since its inception under the leadership of Mr Wi’ son, whom he characterised as a great American,. and a great citizen of the world, adding: “No. title to fame is higher than that. Disarmament is the goal to which all intelligent of peace must desire to tend, but the difficulties in the way are prodigious.’’
