WOMEN TEACHERS

EQUALITY VOTE DEFEATED.

(Special to “Star.’’)

WELLINGTON, Sept. 12. The House was divided to-night, on an amendment moved by Mr Holland, to the Education vote, to the effect that men and women teachers be equally paid for equal work. The division was on party linos, Liberals and Labour supporting the amendment, /and the Government opposing it. The Government won the division by two votes (twenty-nine to twenty-seven), Mr Wright voting against the Government.
