Mr Cyril Aitken left morning on a health trip o Hanmer.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Goss jnr, who have been visiting Greymouth, returned to Christchurch this morning-
Mrs Love, accomponied by hen sister Miss Quinn, left by this morning’s express for Dunedin, where she will in future reside.
Miss Potts, of Sydney, a sister of Mrs Walkey, is making an extended visit to the Coast, and is staying at the Cobden Vicarage.
Mrs Stan White, who, with her two daughters has been on a visit to her mother, Mrs H. Macandrew, Christchurch, has returned to Greymouth.
Mr George Baildon (Deputy Mayor) has acceded to the request of a large deputation that he accept nomination as Sir James Gunson’s successor in the Mayoralty of Auckland.
Mr F. T. M. Kissel, Principal Assistant Electrical Engineer, has been appointed Chief Electrical Engineer, vice Mr Birks (deceased). Mr Kissel Was born in Canterbury.—Press Assn.
The “Gazette” notifies the appointment of Mr W. IX Hunt as a member of the Meat Producers’ Board, representing the stock and 'station agents, and Messrs T. A. Dunqan and Adam Hamilton as representing the producers of meat for export.
Mr Frederick Parker, manager of the Bank of New South Wales at Dunedin since January 1916,, will retire frojn the bank on October 3rdon superannuation, after 48 years’ service.
Passengers by this morning’s express included: Mesdames Allan Smith, Rowley Smith, Messrs J. D. Lynch, J. H. Wilson, W. Bostock, W. A. Winnett, J. S. Langford, J. S-. Myersougli, C. Neville, N. Grant, D. Carr and Dr E. G. Lynch.
The late Mrs Nesbit, who died yesterday, was a daughter of Mrs Ellery, of Blaketown. She leaves a daughter, Mrs Robertson (Blaketown), and two sons, one- in Australia and one at Barrytwon. Mr Harry Ellery (Blaketown), is a brother of the deceased. Her daughter, Nurse Nesbitt, and also her busband 1 , pre-deceased her some years ago.
Mr Chas. P. Brown, a grandson of “Boatbuilder” Brown, of Elmer Lane, has been appointed superintendent of the Power Station at Otira. He was formerly shift engineer, and later, acting superintendent. Mr Brown is is versatile musician ,and is reputed to be one of the finest exponents of the violin in New Zealand.
