Davis- won the Scott Me mortal Essay ; Prize, given by the Grey branch of the Teachers Inst The Inspector’s report was highly satisfactory showing that you have a painstaking staff who have the interest of the children at heart. Mr Malone (headmaster) has proved himself a very capable man and m out opinion is the right man m the right place. Your Committee desire to thank him for the assistance he has given them during the year and ioi the great interest he has taken in the children and the welfare ol the school. .... . ' Owing to the bad condition of tae school ground the caretaker has had a very trying time to keep the school rooms clean. But repots from the Headmaster as to the school conditions have been very satisfactory. The annual picnic was held as usual at Hokitika and was a financial success placing us with the same credit balance as of the previous year, and in the Committee’s opinion, the method carried out last picnic, silver coins instead of fruit proved a great success both to the parents an the Committee. In conclusion, your Committee desire to thank the Canterbury Education Board, and the Chairman, Mi Bignell, for assistance during the year, also the Board’s officials for their kindness and courtesy. The following Committee was elected for the ensuing year: Messrs Daniel Barnes, John'’ Davidson, Michel Johnston. William Wick, Thomas Pattinson, Robert Armstrong, Richard Southard, J. F. Pattinson, E. W. Kennedy. At a meeting of the newly elected Committee, Mr J. F. Pattinson. was elected Chaiman, and Mr E. W. Kennedy Secretary and Treasurer.
