OMOTO CLUB

FANCY DRESS BALL.

The interior ol the Town Hail presented a gay aspect last evening, wnen over lull couples, mostly in' fancy dress, .took part in the annual fancy dress and masquerade bail of the Omoto Cricket Club. The function was a great success, and the fact that the hall was well filled until an early hour in the morning is sufficient guarantee that the dancers enjoyed themselves. During the evening the season’s euchre prize of £1 Is was presented to Airs Kent.

A competition for the best fancy dress in either sex was held, Mrs Medhurst (“Harem Lady”) winning in ,the ladies’ section, tne gentlemen’s prize being awarded to Mr G. Joyce (“Monkey’ ). Air R. Harvey was AI.C., and the music for the dances was played by Williams’s orchestra, extras being supplied by Aliss M. Dunn and Mr T. Lim. The Secretary (Mr 11. Lawrence) was assisted in his work by a ladies’ and men’s committee. The ladies’ committee consisted of Airs S. Alclvor, Airs H. Lawrence, Airs E. Clough, Mrs Jackson (sen.) and Airs Jackson (jun.), Aliss D. Jacksun, Airs Cooper, Airs Comerford, Airs Harvey and Airs Alexander, and those comprising the men’s committee were Messrs Jackson (sen. anU jun.), T. Brown, Comerford, R. Cooper and Tilleyshort. Air Tilleyshort, president of the club, took an opportunity at. the supper interval to thank the public lor the support accorded the club. Among some of the dresses noticed were Alisses C. Dodson (Carnival), N. Harrison (Black add White Top), Mrs Aloclhurst (Harem Lady), Alisses K. O’Hallalian (Pierette), 1). O’Hallahan (Carnival), C. Cunliffe (Carnival), A. Costello (Carnival), Al. Dunn (Persian Lady), Al. Beale (Gipsy), Mundy (Black Cat), Bell (Belgium), Hill (Pierette), Gooding (Red, White and Blue), C. Basher (emerald green satin), Moore (white silk), G. Rugg (navy crepe-de-chine), Al. Sweeney (Irish Colleen), Al. Coulthard (Pierette), K. Coulthard (Folly), Goodwin) (Tea Girl), Hill (Indian), Nicolson (Powder Puff), O. Crompton (Page Boy), Stevenson (Pierette), Richmond (Pierette), Lewis (Spider), and Alesdames Dunn (black and white). Holder (black velvet), R. Rothwell (Pierette), C. Gain (black panne velvet and green satin), and Excell (Rambling Roses).
