September 29 —Napier Park R.C. RACING NEWS AND NOTES. (By “Arlington.”) There will be racing to-morrow nt Otaki and Avondale. Mark Time has come into pronounced favour for the New Zealand Cup. In a cable message which sent from England this week, -Mr. G. L. Rutherford stated that he has puichased the two-year-old colt Last Dart, by Carbine’s son Spearmint from Ultima. by Winkfield from Osy, by St. Simon from Sweetwater, by Hampton. The name of Gurnion has been claimed for the King Mark —Birkelot filly owned by Air. I* rank Ormond. Dazzling Light, the full-sister to Razzle Dazzle, and Anomaly’s iullbrother King’s Folly are down to make their first appearance in public in tne Prince of Wales Stakes, which comes up for decision at the Napier Pari', spring gathering. , The New Zealand-bred The -Monk is favourite for the A.J.C. Derby, with Rahiri next in demand, and Tarleton (another New Zealander) well fancied. Enthusiasm is regarded as a doubtful starter in the New Zealand Cup. Foals by the imported horse Paper Money have made their appearance during the last few weeks in various parts of tlie Dominion, and on all hands they are described as exceptionally promising youngsters. Alt. 1 1 - Griffen, of Riccarton, has a very fine colt from the .Multiform mare Formless.

The Australian horse Speciality, who dropped dead at Randwick recently, was insured last November for £2OOO.

The two-year-old, Father’s Voice, who is to carry Viscountess Jeilicoe’s colours this season, is being prepared for early engagements by L. E. Goodwin, at Greenmeadows. Sydney writers are pleased with the track efforts of the Absurd two yearold filly, Giggle, who is to represent Air. A. B. Williams in the Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick.

It is mentioned that R. Reed will have the mount on Tarleton in the A.J.C. Derby. Air. Stead's gelding is assessed by Sydney authorities as the most likely of the New Zealand three-year-olds now at Randwick to win blue ribbon honours.

The new regulation hurdle, concerning which hopes are entertained that all other clubs will adopt it on the recommendations of the Racing Conference, was in use at Wanganui and was considered by the officials to be satisfactory. The top rails is nine inches by two inches and is built of Oregon pine.
