MARISTS' SUSPENSION DEBATE (Special to “Star.”) CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 20. An interesting point in connection with the suspension of the Marist Club by the Canterbury Rugby Union, was mentioned to a reporter to-day by a person who is well known in spoiling and athletic circles in Christchurch. He stated that some time ago, the bodies governing such sports as hockey, League football, Rugby union football, tennis and cricket in Canterbury, had agreed to recognise the disqualifications imposed by any one of these bodies on members under their control. This action had arisen out of a request from the ’ Canterbury Hockey Association who had had occasion to disqualify two players. These players treated the disqualification lightly, stating that they would play some other game. The Hockey Association thereupon communicated with the various bodies controlling amateur sport in Christchurch, and they agreed to recognise the disqualifications. r fhe question is, if the Marist Club officials refuse to withdraw the letter sent to the Rugby Union and to apologise, and the Union takes further action against the Club, how will the numerous members of the Club stand in relation to other sports in which they may be interested? TO-Al ORGM’S Al ATCIIES. Au interesting representative game will take place to-morrow on Victoria. Park when the Hokitika Junior reps, will meet a junior team representing the Grey division. Recently the junior plavers have been overshadowed owing to Ihe large number of senior rep. fixtures and the game to-morrow will be welcome to players and spectators alike, as it will give an opportunity to the players who will be seniors of the very near future. In addition to the Junior rep. match, the Coast rep. School Boys’ team, which did so creditably in Christchurcli recently will be seen in action against, a team of heavier boys chosen from the Greymouth and Cobden districts. T'he boys’ rep. team will turn out m the new set of Coast rep. so that the public will have their hr;-t ,iHi>r.i-iiinilv iJ seeiim the senior rep'.
