Waipori. The Regulus sailed last evening, coal laden, for Nelson. The Titoki arrived early this morning from Wellington, with general cargo. On discharge she proceeded to Westport to load coal for New Plymouth and Wanganui. The Regulus leaves Wellington on Wednesday for Grey mouth, via way ports. , The Kamona is due to-morrow from Westport, to which place she sailed direct from Dunedin. She loads coal for Wellington. Tiie Kakapo is due from Lyttelton on Thursday* and will lift coal, tiinbci and general cargo for Wellington.

LAURA’S ROUGH TRIP. SYDNEY, June 17. The sailing ship Laura encountered hardly one day’s fair weather in her sixteen days’ trip to Sydney. She sailed from Awanui on May 31, with a full cargo of pine, and ran into the Wilt- 1 shire gale. After a troublesome period, she encountered another gale off Lord Howe Island- Finally she met a hurlicance off this eoast at the l end of hei journey. The Laura will load a cargo of poles at Port Stephens for Bluff. C(DIMONWEALTH LINE. ' SYDNEY, June 17. A statement has been made that the cost of running the Commonwealth State ships under Australian articles has been considerably greater than for similar vessels under British articles. The Largs Bay, run under the former, cost £2688 per month, as against £1496 under British articles. In addition, the initial cost of the Australian State vessels exceeded the estimates by 25 per cent., or instead of £1,000,000 each, they cost £1,250.000, involving additional money for interest and depreciation.
