CADMAN K.O’S McCLEARY. (Special to the Star.) WESTPORT, June 5. There was a packed house to witness the professional Heavy-weight contest between Brian McCleary and Laurie Cadman, winch eventuated in the Theatre Royal on (Saturday night- For some days prior to the contest interest was very keen, though iMcCleary was always favourite .at as much as two to one. The Cadman followers were, however, very confident, which was amply justilied, for tne Aucklander won by the k.o. route in the third round after a brilliant exhibition of the noble art. Cadman landed to McCleary's solar plexus before the first round was half way through, and this was the beginning of the end, for the blow carried such staggering force that the Christchurch man never recovered.

MADDOX AVINS ON A FOUL. (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, June 4. Duke Maddox and Lin Robinson met last night in a 15-round contest, which carried the featherweight championship of New Zealand. Maddox led on points over the first five roundsThereafter Robinson 1 gained points. Towards the close of the eleventh round Robinson delivered a blow while Maddox was on his hands and knees, which cost him the fight on a foul.
