McClure (Commissioner for Crown Lands) are to leave this morning fora week-end visit to Kajnli Island, won a view to studying on the spot the condilions prevailing. and what is neerlcd to make the island as nearly as possible a perfect sanctuary for native bush and native biids. The Minister for Lands (Hon. D. 11. Guthrie) was to have accompanied the committee, but pressimr Departmental business precludes his doing so.
