POLLARDS PICTURES. | To-night in the Opera House I’ol- | lard s will present to picture patrons the big problem picture “The World Aflame ’ and the roaring farce comedy “Hand to Mouth’’ featuring Harold Lyold. “The World Aflame” is a picture dealing with the capital versus labour pxoolem starring Fiank Keenan. It is no preachment either on behalf of capital or labour. It tells the story of how an aggressive and forceful Mayor checkmated an incipient revolution in his city and pointed out fo both employers and employees alike how, by “getting together” in brotherly fashion all of their differences might be amicably adjusted. On to-morrow (Sunday) evening “Cinderella’s Twin” a special Metro picture featuring Viola Dana and Wallace M’Donald, in a charmign story with a Cinderella motive, but which is actually a sensational melodrama dealing with a gang of notorious jewel thieves who us e the pretty little scullery maid as their catspaw in society will be presented by Pollard’s in the Opera House. On Monday evening _H, B. Warner will be featured in W. J. Locke’s
powerful story “The White Dove.” CHAUTAUQUA. OPENS NEXT WEDNESDAY. Next Wednesday afternoon the Greymouth Chautauqua season for 1922 will commence. Owing to the committee being unable to obtain the Town Hall for the opening afternoon and evening, the first performances will be held in the Trinity Hall, as was done last year; for the remaining three afternoons and nights the performances will be held in the Town Hall. Last year the Trinity packed to suffocation point for the opening performances, anil judging by the. number of tickets sold, there will bo no room on the opening day and night except for ticket holders. Iho lecturers arc brilliant, while there is a whole galaxy of talented vocalists and instrumentalists. The opening day will see Norman learce. in his humorous lecturette, entitled “Getting There,” and the famous Private 11. R. Peat, th e brilliant. Canadian, will deliver his lecture. “Problems of the Dominions.” The musical part of the programme will be in the hands of the Fine Arts Trio Lyric Soprano, Miss Gwendolyn Snanswick; songs at tho piano, Miss Dolly Stewart.; elocutionist, Norman Pearce. '1 his is a fine opening programme, and those who want to make sure of bearing it can do so by at once purchasing season concession tickets. No season ticket may bo procured after noon on the opening day. .After that single price admissions only.
