Premier Theodore, announced the Governor has received a cablegram that the Royal assent has been given to the Queensland Legislative Council Abolition Bill, and the necessary Order-in-Council has been passed. The Upper House therefore is dead. The Premier added: —“Fpr many years the Upper House has thwarted the will, of the people, and it became a drag upon democracy.” Few would regret its fate, and fewer still would hope for its resurrection. This is the first time such an action had been taken by any Sovereign State so fir as he knew. 7
