~ * ' 1 U.N I ENGINEERING LOCK-OUT. (Australian and N.Z. Cable LONDON, March 11. Half a million, skilled engineers will be unemployed by Wednesday. A further 40u,000 engineers on the Clydeside are keenly disappointed at the collapse of the negotiations, whith will mean an additional 70,000 unemployed in the Glasgow area. Recd 9 a.m. LONDON, March 12. The engineering lock-out has begun. The employers are allowing other unions covering general workers in engineering trades until March 23 to take a ballot. If they reject the terms, the lockout notices will immediately apply to them. They® is a hopeful feeling that the lock-out will not last long, especially if the general workers accept the terms which is considered most probable they will do.
