The Governor-General announces that the King has been pleased on the occasion of his birthday to confer the following honours :—

Knight Commander of the Most Distin guished Order of St. Michael and St Geoige (K.C.M.G.): Hon. Edwin Mitchel son (Auckland).

Knight Bachelor: John Pearce, J. P. Luke, formerly Mayor of Wellington; Brigadier-General Donald Johnstone AleGavin, New Zealand Military Forces. Companion of Most Distinguished Order of St. .Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) : .Major (temporary Lieut.-Col), James Lewis Sleeman, late Director-General of Military Training; Frederick ’William Platts. Stipendiary Magistrate, Te Kuiti. formerly Resident Commissioner of Cook Islands. GREETINGS TO THE KING.

The Governor-General has forwarded the following telegram to the King on the occasion of his Majesty’s Birthday

“On behalf of the Government and people of this Dominion, I beg to tender to your Majesty most respectful congratulations on the occasion of your birthday, coupled with renewed assurance of loyalty and devotion of your Majesty’s New Zealand subjects to the Throne and Empire.—■ (Signed) Jellicoe.”
