(Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON NORTH, August 13. ThoJSandou motor smash case, in which Warren Newth is charged w:th manslaughter, was continued in the Supreme Court to-day, when evidence was called by the Crown to prove that even if the lights of Eglinton’s' car had not been burning Newth should have seen the car approaching if ho had not been driving in a negligent manner.'. The testimony at the Magisterial inquiry was repeated, and the case for the prosecution closed. In opening for the defence, Mr Ongley said he proposed to call a new witness who would depose that Eglinton’s car was without lights just before the collision occurred. Newth himself was the first witness for the defence. He denied travelling at an excessive speed, and stated that lie saw nothing of Eglinton’s car until just before the impact.
