CHRISTCHURCH, August 13.—At a meeting of sheep farmers, held to discuss the future of the meat, trade, it appeared to be the unanimous desire that licenses should be granted to Armour and Co., and other export buyers to shin meat from New Zealand, and that the trade in frozen lamb to America should be encouraged. The following resolution was carried : "That this meeting of Canterbury sheep farmers resolves that no obstacle should be placed in the way of any firm operating in New Zealand until there is evidence that the method of such firm arj detrimental to producers' interests." P.P.A. CONFERENCE TIMARU, August 13.—A conference of South Canterbury members of the P.P.A. decided to endorse the action of the 'Council of Churches at (-Jhr'stchurch in drawing the attention of the Prime Minister (Mr. Massey) to the policy of the "New Zealand Tablet," it being alleged to be undermining the loyalty of Roman Catholics to Britain. The Conference discussed Archbishop o'Shea's denial that the teaching oi his Church was such as to render invalid all Catholic marriages not contracted before a priest. A speaker gave a quotation from Roman Catholic pink catechism, which he stated meant that persons married under such conditions were not married at all.

BLIND SOLDIERS. WELLINGTON, August 12.—1 n connection with the appeal, on behalf of blinded soldiers, the Patriotic So cieties Advisory Board declared "that this Board advise the various Patriotic Societies of New Zealand to set apart on a population basis, the sum of £IO,OOO for the welfare of blind soldiers, such sum to be vested in trustees and invested on any security authorised by the Trustee Act 1918, or any amendment or Act passed in substitution therefor, the income from such investment to accumulate for at least five years. That for the immediate and after care of blind soldiers .the Patriotic Societies be recommended to continue to assist in a similar manner to what has been done in the past, and that the Commercial Travellers' Fund be asked to provide for supervision assistance as suggested by Clutha' M acKenzie. It was .also agreed that the Government, be approached to appoint a repatriation officer to attend to the after care of .blind,soldiers. '
