CHILDREN'S BALL

SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Children's ball held in Carter's Hall, Cobden, last evening, was pronounced a great success by both young and old. The 'costumes, taken on the average, were of a very high standard, and judging by the happy smiles and joyous laughter of the childien present, it will be remembered by them for some time to come. To Miss R. Bright (Fairy) was awarded first girls' prize. , Master F. Mclntyre (Little Boy Blue), first boy's prize. Misses M. and I. Billett (Two Little m Girls in Blue), second girls' prize. Master R. Mclntyre (Santa C.aus), second boys' prize. , . Others competing and deserving of hign praise for their excellent costumes were: Miss L. Skilton (Spanish Girl), Miss H. Gilmore (France), Miss E. East (France), Miss W. Pike (Violets), Miss J, Bright (Sweet Pea), Miss N. Mclntyre (New Zealand), Miss E. Mclntyre (Fairy), Miss A. Gilmore (England) I Miss E. Gilmore (America), Miss A. McMillan (Red Cross Nurse), A. Nelson (Clown). MissM. Waster (Gipsy) R- Washer (Night), Miss R. Magee (Negro), Miss McMillan (Negro) K CressyJCowboy), I. Nelson (Hobo), J.- Nelson (Grandma). The Committee desire to {hank all those, who donated prizes for the competitions.
