AMUSEMENTS

—-_—£,. OPERA HOUSE. The last ep.sude of the favour't.e serial "The ivj.au of Might" raid the splendid picturisation of "The Pa: sing of the Third Floor Back" sfcarr ng Sir J. Forbes Robertson, wia ba screened for the last time by Pollard's in the Opera House to-nigut. To-morrow (Sunday) and Monday evening, "The Hayseeds Melbourne Cup" the third series of Beanmmt Smith's great Australian comedy wi 1 be Pollard"s star attraction. The fierce 1 ght that beats about a cup wmar should, if for nothing els?, make the Beaumont-Smith Australian racing film, "Farmer Hayseed's Cup Win'.' a winning attraction. But there is a good deal more to the latest instalment of the way backs hi u serial from Australia than that. The producers have hit on the happy idea of caricaturing various features of the Australian Hayseed's personality With most laughable results. Farmer Hayseed, having discovered a cup winn. r for a song, puts him in training, and the process of thinning down the rider to make the weight is a tickler. Another happy idea is the inter-dialogue as scene follows sceiie, which keeps the audience in a continual shnirnr of merriment. Throughout the play is a very pretty romance and a vein of villainy which make a strong back ground to the comedy. The story develops to a strong climax in which a villainous bookmaker attempts to tamper with Cornstalk, by this time a hot favourite but is thriilingly foiled, and Cornstalk romps home an easy winner.

TOWN HALL. "The Blue Bird" will be shown at the Peerless in the Town Halt Tonight for the last time. "Bill Henry featuring Charles Ray, is .the title of the Ince-Paramount feature coming to the Town Hall on Sunday. "Bill Henry" is a country youth who sets out oh the road to success as a speciality salesman. His line, a number ot electric vibrators, proves very hard to sell, and after ten days' hard toil, he is mighty glad to "throw in the sponge," and take a joo as a hotel porter. It is whilst he is engaged m this work that he takes a hand in the game of that fascinating indoor sport "Poker," in order to win some money to help a young lady who has won his love. This incident, one of the most humorous ever filmed, forms the basis of a story which is delightful and well suited to the genius of Charbs Ray. On Wednesday next Wallace Reid will appear in his latest film "Roaring Road." This picture has been admirably produced ana the work of the star and that of a capable cast headed by dainty Ann Little, is most artistic. Another star item on programme is Mack Sennett's masterpiece "Lncle lorn Without the Cabin" featuring Beu Turpin.
