ELECTIVE COUNCIL
AMENDING BILL, (Special to the "Star.") WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government has introduced into the Legislative Council an amendment of the 1914 Act providing for an elective Council. As already indicated there is no important policy in the change. The Bill proposes to amend the rules for fixing the boundaries of the electoral division and the number of members to ba elected for each division.
The first electoral division is the Northern part of the North Island, the second is the southern half of the North Island, the third is the Northern part of the South Island. The boundaries are to be arranged to make the population of the first and second division approximate and the population approximate to that of the fourth divis'on. It is further provided that not more than two members.of the Executive Council may be appointed to the Legislative Counsil.
