Help for Iho development of oilboring in tlie Hawke's Bay province was sought by a deputation to the Trimo Minister. • The deputation comprised Messrs Mitchell (Chairman of Directors), Redpalh and Andrews, representing the Waipatiki Oil Wells Company. They asked for a geological report and also a subsidy for the bore at the well which is now down 5660 bet. There lias been .no trouble with the water.

Mr. Massey promised to send an officer of the Geological Department to report and will place the matter of a subsidy before Parliament.
