Mrs. M. Kennedy and child left for Christchurch by the Otira express to-day.> .

Miss Mary Moore, of Runanga, left by the express en route for Christchurch this morning.

Mr. P. McCormick, of the Golden Eagle Hotel, was an outward' passenger for Christchurch to-day.

The Hon. and Mrs. H. Michel, left by the Otira express for Christchurch this morning.

Nurse Wickes, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. E. A. Wickes, left this morning for Christchurch.

Nurse Maloney, who has resided in Greymouth for the past four years, returned to Christchurch by this morning’s exress, owing to the illness of her mother.

Mr. A. F. Myall, representing Chandler and Co., (Linotype and Machinery Department) Auckland and Sydney, is on a business visit to Greymouth. He leaves for Westport and Nelson to-morrow morning. The death of Mr. Michael Reedy, an old resident of the Kumara district, took place at Kumara on Friday last. The deceased was a native of County Kerry, Ireland, and 87 years of age. He had been a resident of New Zealand for 52 years. Mr. Alfred Gibbens, whilst engaged in loading timber on the s.s. Kamo on Saturday morning, sustained an injury to his back and is now confined to his home under medical treatment. Mr. Gibbens only returned to his native town a month ago. Messrs Alderson, (of Messrs Kempthorne Prosser and Co.) and Burke (of Messrs Sharland and Co.) are at present relieving Mr. W. Williams, chemist of Hokitika, the latter being ill as a result of the prevailing epidemic. The death is reported from Westport of Mr. Patrick Kane, who passed away at his residence, Addison’s Flat, on Friday night. The late Mr. Kane was a native of County Connaught, Ireland, and settled in Addison’s about 53 years ago. He followed the gold-mining industry all his life, and was well-known throughout the district. Deceased had reached his 80th year, and was the father of a* large family, eight of whom are dead. He leaves a wife, a daughter, and three sons to mourn his loss.

An old and highly esteemed resident of Westport, Mr. John Craig, passed away on Sunday in his 84lh year. Deceased, whose father was a military instructor, was born at Gibraltar, and as a child was taken to Ireland, where he was brought up. Tie was a carpenter by trade. He came to Queensland in 1863 and three years later crossed over to New Zealand and followed mining on the West Coast at Westport, Hokitika and Mokihinui, eventually settling down in Westport, where he followed his former occupation ns a carpenter. Deceased is survived by four daughters.

Yet another of the old pioneers of Westport and Nelson passed away on Sunday in the person of Mrs. Fayen, who was in her 82nd year. Deceased was a native of London and had been sixty years in New Zealand. After living for many years in the Nelson district she went to Westport and resided there ever since. She is survived by a grown-up family, which includes, Mrs. A. W. Mills, of Christchurch ; Miss Fayen, of Nelson; Messrs E. and R. Fayen, of Westport, and other brothers. She also leaves a large number of grandchildren.
