THE YEAR'S RETURNS.
A most interesting analysis of the revenue receipts of several boroughs m the JJoniinion for the financial year' 1918-19 has just been issued, and the figures for, (ireymouth and other Coast districts are illuminating. .From rates Greyniouth received £9843, from an estimated population of 4863 as against £6013 for Westport, with a population of 4057. Other comparisons on a population basis are: Ilokitika **os7 (2091), Kumaia £184(023), liunanga £612 (1411), B runner £383 (598).
The amount of revenue received v.i respect to publicans' licenses in Greyniouth is £B4O, just under half that received for the City of Wellington. Publicans' licenses for the other boroughs in the district are : Westport £730, Bruimer £2lO, Runanga £4l, Kumar a' £?SO, Ilokitika £660. Other receipts for the Greymouth Borough were :—Licenses, auctioneers', hawkers', etc., £319; abattoir fees, £1069; dogtax, pound fees, etc., £81; rents, £661; fines and penalties, £4; sales of material, £3l ; hale of light and power, £9846; oilier sources, £4099.
The total revenue receipts for Uie year were for the various boroughs: Greyniouth. £27,546, Tvumara £551, Ilokitika. £5411, Runanga £787, Brainier £604, Westport £17,136.
