Mr. M. Omeara, a very old resident of Totara Flat is at present seriously

Mr. L. O’Connor of Christchurch, arrived by last evening’s express and proceeded to Hokitika to-day.

Mr. Ivan Culpan, who' is acting as advance agent lor the English Rugby League team, arrived in Greyinouth last evening.

Mr. J. G. Teller, who has been transferred from the Oamaru telegraph office to Greyinouth will arrive by the express from Otira to-rnorrow night.

Miss A. M. Fowler, of the Greyinouth telephone exchange leaves tomorrow morning en route to Auckland to which place she has been transferred.

The death occurred in the Grey River Hospital this morning of Mr. J. Keller. Deceased had recently been employed jin sawmilling at. Rum, He was 43 years of age, and a native of Warsaw (Poland), arriving in New Zealand 20 years ago.

Mr. E. G. Stapp, chief postmaster at Nelson for the last four months, who has been appointed r\ Moving chief postmaster, leaves for the North Island at the end of the month. He will be succeeded by Mr. S. F. Hazard, who was inspector of post offices for this district some years ago.

Captain Adam who was for over forty years at sea,- but who for the last nine years has been farming in Northern Wairoa, died at Te Kopura Hospital yesterday at the age of 59. During the war the deceased volunteered for service and did two years on the- Ulimaroa. He leaves a widow and one son. He was born in .Arbroath, Scotland.—Press Association message.

Detective Sweeney, of Auckland has been appointed to Invercargill. Detective Young, who carried out his probationary work at Punsonby, is to bo transferred to Greymoulh, and Detective De Norville; in charge ot tno plain-clothes staff at Newtown, is to be stationed at Whangarei. Detective Sergeant Ward, of Greyinonth, and Detective Fitzgibbon, of New Plymouth, have been transferred to Auckland.
