GREY STATE SCHOOL.

SPECIAL MEETING OE COMMITTEE. A special- meeting* of tlie Grey ottite School Committee was lield in tile schoolroom last night. There were present Messrs W. H. Parfitt (chairman), 11. J. Williams, J. Tennent, P. Mackenzie, D. McGregor, C. Grams and W. Blair. On the motion of Mr P. Mackenzie, seconded by Mr Tennent, the Lector (Mr A. A. Adams) was granted a month’s leave of absence.

A letter was received from the Canterbury Education Board stating* that Monday and Tuesday next were to be observed as holidays, and asking* the committee to assist the children ih taking part in the peace celebrations. It was agreed that the committee would do all in its power to give the children a good time. The Chairman explained that the special meeting had been called to help the Peace Committee to carry out the arrangements for entertaining the children, as the matter had been left entirely in the hands of the committee. On the motion of Mr Williams, seconded by Mr Mackenzie, it was agreed that committee arrange for providing the refreshments for the children on the Saturday. Mr Blair moved that Messrs Williams, Mackenzie and Grams represent the committee and make all arrangements. This was seconded by Mr Tennent and carried.
