McElwee secured the ball, and with a brilliant dash scorod between the posts. Reefton failed to convert. The first half ended Reefton 3, Valley nil. In the second half the Valley pressed Reefton, and it was only lack of combination that they did not cross the line. In the last twenty minutes of the game h situation without parallel was created by the Valley play. From a five yards scrum the Valley secured the ball and made a heroic attempt to score and for fifteen minutes five-yard scrums were the order of play. Duffy saved the situation for Reefton. Valley from a mark failed to kick over the line, and from a scrum Burley with a splendid dash beat four men and scored between the posts Reefton failed to convert. The Valley forwards had much the best of the game, and Reefton backs outclassed their opponents. When the whistle sounded the score was Reefton 6, Valley nil.
