Several members of the Blackball Caledonian Society journeyed to Hokitika on Thursday, to attend the Caledonian meeting on Thursday night. We have previously drawn attention to the cruel practice of circulating rumours regarding casualties at the front. Yesterday a report flew round the town that a well-known Greymouth lad had been ”od. During the afternoon his relatives were besieged with expressions of sympathy. Naturally they were greatly upset as they thought that perhaps the news was true, and that they had not been informed of the fact by the authorities. We are pleased to say that the report is quite untrue.
