I 1 The death of Mrs. Borkiii, relict oi c the late Thomas Borkin, of Ilimu, took , place on Saturday morning. The de- £ ceased was a native of Tipperary, Ire- ' land and 85 years of age. Her hus- ' band predeceased her some years ago. C She leaves two sons (Thomas, of Mur- i chison, and Patrick of Rimu). Mrs ± Slattery, of Beef ton, is a sister. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon. * FUNERAL. c c The funeral of the late Mrs. D. J. ] Evans took place yesterday morning, -] and was attended by a very large and s representative gathering. Mourners " came from all parts of the district, and all the iocal bodies and institutions c and societies with which the bereaved i husband is connected were fully repre- \ sented. The Lady Liverpool* Commit- , tee, of which deceased was Vice-Presi- j derit, attended in a body. The cortege was a very one. The pall bearers were the County Chairman and Councillor Duff,'Messrs C. J. Nightingale ; and A. E. Benjamin. The large attendance testified to the general grief arfd sorrow at the loss of such a sterL ing citizen and worthy helpmate. There was a large number of floral tributes, from public bodies, various institutions and societies, and from personal friends. ' The Rev. Dr. Hollcway con- j ducted the service at All Saints' (
Church and the graveside. ' DEATH OF MRS. EVANS. The Hon. J. Grimmond received the following telegram yesterday from Mrs Seddon, Wellington, dated the 20th : "All saddened with the sad news. Deeply regret cannot be with your clear friend, Mr. Evans. No way of getting there. Would you kindly represent the family."
