B. ’ Stanton asked the Hon. Walter Long whether he had seen the. report of the. Colonial Consignment Company, pointing out the effort of a v Glvioi]go beef monopoly to corner the New Zealand meat output, whether his; attention had been called to the secret operations of the Meat Trust in New Zealand; whether seeing that irritation and suspicion exists in New Zealand regarding whether the meat companies are under American control, will he immediately confer with Mr., Massey regarding the steps necessary to keep ' this source of Britain’s food, supply free from foreign influence. Mr. Long replied: “My attention has been drawn to the matter, and T am in communication with Mr..;vMassey with a view of considering what action I can take. ■ '
