! Mutton : There is a poorer demand as the result of heavy arrivals of in- | ferior chilled beef from Monte Video. Canterbury is at 4 5-8 d for light weight; .North Island 4 3-8 d for light weight. ■ Lamb : A fair demand continues. The demand has been chiefly for lightweights. . Canterbury twos are at heavy-weights 5 7-Bd, other than Canterbury 6 2-16 d for lightweight. Beef: There is scarcely any demand. Quotations, for New Zealand beef are nominal. New Zealand hinds are at 4 3-8 d ; fores 3 3-Sd ; chilled beef best quality hinds 5d ; fores 3 l-8d ; inferior quality lias been selling at funds 4d; fores "3Ad. Butter: The market is steady. Danish is steady at from 116 s to 118 s ; New Zealand prices are nominal at from 110 sto 114 s. Australian is in slow! demand at from 100 sto 104 s. Irish isj firm but quiet at from 108 s to 110 s; \ Siberian is steady at from 98s to 102 s. j Cheese: The market is slightly J weaker with less demand . Canadian j new make is slow trade. White is at 62s to 63s ; coloured 63s 6d ; New Zealand dull; white 62s 6d to 63s 6d, coloured 63s 6d to 64s 6d; English Cheddar market is steady with new make at 68s to 72s ; hue 62s to 665. I Hemp : The market is dull and supplies of fibre large. New Zealand good! fair is at £25 10s per ton,; fair £23 ; forward shipment at same price. Man-j ilia fair current £24; October to Dec- j embe* shipment £25. The output from Manilla for the week was 18,000 bale*.
