THE MAORILAND COLOSSUS
The colossal sale of jewellery at Lloyd’s is now in full blast, and Mr Tennent, the new proporietor, is exceedingly grateful for the hearty manner in which his numerous friends have rallied around him, and for the patronage of an army of pleased and satisfied customers. So far, the sale has proved a friend-winner as well as a friend-retainer, and Mr Tennent requests us to publish his thanks to the purchasing public for the encouragement’ that his new enterprise has received. Between now and Saturday “the happy hunting ground of the gift seeker" will be the scene of great activity. The clearing movement will be making great inroads into the £SOOO worth of jewellery to be slaughtered during Lloyd’s great priceslashing sale of butter knives, jam spoons, pickle, forks, salad bowls, meat carvers, tea pots, biscuit bai’rels, and other numerous lines of plate .and silverware, not to speak of brooches, bangles, rings, pendants, chains, trinkets, ear rings, greenstone pendants, watches and clocks, to be sold at a discount of from 40 to 25 per cent. As a mark of his appreciation, Mr Tennent asks us to state that he will give a handsome present to the largest purchaser of plate and silverware between now and next Saturday, the name of the winner to be published, unless otherwise requested.
