Cronis Cohen, a case in which the .former was awarded £I,OOO damages against Cohen, who in his book ■ “reminiscences of Kimberley,” said that Sir J. B. Robinson was a fraudulent dealer, a swindler and a coward. Emil Berger has been sentenced to three years at Old Bailey for perjury, in 'testifying against Sir J. B. Robinson, concerning the alleged incident at Kimberley in 1879. MAIL ROBBER* CAPTURED. BEET SUGAR INDUSTRY. LONDON, June 17.—Professor Licht estimates that the production of beet sugar has decreased 1671 tons. The output for the season will ho unchanged. A WILD GOOSE YARN. NEW YORK, Juno 17.—At Sacramento, California, a farmer named Thomas found a wild goose bearing the legend “North Pole June 24th, 1896, Major Andree," but tbe story is not confirmed.
