DESTRUCTIVE TORNADO
MANY DEATHS RECORDEDCHILD’S MIRACULOUS ESCAPE. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.] NEW YORK, June 17. Twenty-eight were killed and many injured by tornadoes in Central Missouri. In Ohio hundreds of dwellings were unroofed. The Catholic church steeple collapsed at Zanesville and fell through the roof killing the Rev. Father Roach, who was engaged administering the Last Sacrament to a man previously stricken by a portion of a falling wall. Oklahoma suffered severely. Many deaths are recorded..
A freight train was blown off the tracks. The wind carried a baby half a mile in midair and landed it almost unhurt.
