Cotter gave a remarkable display of slogging and hit four sixes and six fours. He scored 80 in 40 minutes and with Waddy scored a century in 37 minutes. Macartney scored two, showing poor form. The wicket takers were: Whitty, two wickets for 94, Crawford, one for 60, Wright; three for 40, Rees four for 94. South Australia, in their first innings lost five wickets for 164. Hill 59, Dolling 28, Chamberlain, not out, 26, Mayne 21.
