THE DEFENCE ACT.
[TO THB BDITOB.] (Published by arrangement)
Sir, —As a constant reader of your widelycirculated journal I very much deplore the fact that the weak kneed Ward Government has not had the courage to carry out the Defence scheme which became law ' a few months back. When one sees how demoralised the youth of this most progressive and young dominion are becoming for the want of some uplifting, parents and guardians should be eager to assist those in power to carry it out. If anti-militarists only saw how a number of our youths behaved at times, how grateful they should be for someone to assist them in their responsibilities. Military training helps considerably to make good .men of our youths and I take this opportunity of congratulating Sir A. R. Guinness for the manly stand he has taken in regard to the welfare of this country and I sincerely trust he will meet with the reward he deserves at this coming election. I am, etc., YOUNG NEW ZEALANDER. Reefton, November 29th, 1911.
