Otira, Baxter’s, Patara, Kokiri, Kamata, Totata’Flat, Granville,mara, No Town, Nelson Greek, Callaghan’s Creek, Taramakau, Inchbonnie, Ngahere, Kamaka, South Beach, Paroa, Rutherglen, Gladstone Siding, Kumara Junction, Dunganville, Stillwater, Aratiki, Te Kinga, Ahaltra, Moanft, Rotomana, Orwell Creek, Jack’s Mill, Swede’S Mill, Mai'sliall’s Mill, Rangiri, Wallsend, Ru Ru, Brutinertpii, Bdddytown; whilst from the south; reports were presented from Okarito, Okura, Okarito Forks, Waitahi, Ma.tai, Gillespies, Wataroa, Mikonui, Waiho, Jacob’s River, Hari Hari. All of the reports from the foregoing placets were of a jubilant nature, and indicated that a very heavy vote would be cast for Mr. Michel on Deceember the 7til. There were present in person, to hand in their reports, members .rrom the whole of the districts surrounding Hokitika, including: Three Mile, Ariihura, Humphreys, Kokatahi, Flue Spur, Rimu, Kanieri, Ruatapu ,Koiterangi, Callaghan’s, Kaita, Stafford, Waimea, Woodstock, South Spit and Ross.
The delegates present spoke to their reports, and assured the Central Committee that they had been compiled with great care and wdr§ a true pricking of the position as far as a good knowledge of their respective localities could avail. They pointed out that in the 1908 election. Mr Michel had gained a solid majority in the district of Westland proper and that the majority had during the three years which had since passed increased overwhelmingly. They had no doubt whatever that victory was assured by a very largely increased vote, and that the emancipation of Westland was dawning, and, as a result clean administration was at hand.
At the conclusion of the reception of the reports, a number of matters relating to the details of the conduct of the fight on polling day were discussed and arranged. It was resolved that the Aquatic Club rooms be used as a checking office for the day of the election, and committees were set up to take charge of separate blocks of the town, together with other arrangement!;. The officials of the country districts assured the Central Committee that they had everything' in smooth gunning order, and anticipated no difficulty in securing every vote marked good.
A vote of thanks to the chair brought to an end a somewhat prolonged, but very enthusiastic meeting, a keen elation being felt by all present at the optimistic forecasts received on all sides. Several members of the Michel Central Executive visited north by motor yesterday and en route held arranged consultations with the various officers of Mr. Michel’s election committees. They report that a confident and optimistic feeling is paramount throughout the whole of the north, that they were met everywhere with cheery words and smiling faces, and that in every direction good indications of a substantial win for their man were prevalent. Mr. Michel has spared no effort to make himself known to the northern part of tiie Westland electorate, with the result that he is valued at his tree worth, the appreciation of which fact the men and women of the north are fully determined to record on coiling day.

A CAPITAL MEETING

Mr H. L. Michel addressed the electors of Otira on Saturday evening. Mr H. Lockiugton occupied the chair and there was an excellent attendance of Otira electors.
The candidate received a splendid hearing, his different remarks throughout being met with rounds of applause. A number of questions were answered in a most satisfactory and definite manner.
At the conclusion Mr C. H. King moved and Mr W. Murphy seconded the usual vote of thanks which on being put to the meeting was carried unanimously. If the meeting is any criterion, Mr Michel will certainly receive splendid support at Otira.
