CARPENTERS' AND JOINERS' SOCIETY.
MEETING OF GRE YMOUTH BRANCH.
The usual meeting of the above Society was held on Friday evening ; n the Lyceum Hall. There was a large attendance of members, the majority of the town members being present. Bro. J. Booth, Branch President, occupied the chair. The Secretary’s report was considered very satisfactory, the Society being now jj, a good position both numerically and financially. ~ ; . ~ After the usuhl routine business the coi respond ence was dealt with showing trade to be good in most parts of the 3;ominion. The most important item and the one which gave great satisfaction was the letter from the Registrar stating that the Society was now registered under the title of “Greymouth Branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners’ Industrial Union of Workers. After considerable discussion it was treed that the proposed award and further action be left over until after the Amas holidays. The branch secretary (Bro. A. bxcel) was granted leave of absence in order to take an extended holiday, the position to be filled pro tern by the treasurer. This closed the proceedings.
