REEFTON DIKING REPORTS.
BIG RIVER MINE
The Mine Manager reports that during the past week the crosscut has been extended six feet, making a total of 115 ft. We are in a good class of country, carrying leaders from two to six inches in thickness. ST. GEORGE. For the week the low level has been extended 25ft., making a total of 1495 ft. The face is now showing a reef formation of 3ft. wide, with leaders and large boulders of quartz carrying fair gold. JUST IN TIME. For the week No. 3 level has been exended 14ft., making a total of 86ft. now driven on the reef track, which is very broken, but continues to carry .small boulders of quartz, and looks promising to make into a solid reef at any time. KEEP-IT-DARK. The directors of the Keep-it-Dark Quartz Mining Company met on Monday and decided to sink the main shaft 150 ft. by day labour. The previous contract was taken at a figure which enabled the men carrying out the work to average £5 per week throughout, the contractors finding explosives, and the company the timber, etc., but they were certainly skilled and experienced miners. The lowest tender dealt with on Monday wms double that of the previous tender referred to.
