Received this day at 9.15 a.m. LONDON, February 21. Mr Sinclair, a, Scottish Agriculture Commissioner,, who has been touring Australia, was interviewed on his arrival at Plymouth. He spoke enthusiastically of Australia’s prospects. In his opinion Australia was the saddest country he had ever seen, having regard to the labor problems confronting the . Commonwealth. He said he had never heard bitterer expressions used by employees to employers, or vice versa than in Australia. The solution of th© labor question was only to be reached by increased population. Air Barber (Commissoner of Irrigation), : when interviewed, said that artesian boring would render droughts much less serious. He predicted a very promising future for Australia. In, response to a request for men for bush clearing in New South Wales the Central Unemployed body of London is arranging to send by the Pakeha on April 30th 200 men of good physique, character-and-suitability, with further small parties to follow. ; •
