ATHLETIC NEWS
FOOTBALL. A WELLINGTON REP. Football enthusiasts will welcome the arrival to Hokitika of Mr. Manson, a well-known Wellington provincial representative Rugby player. Mr. Manson is employed in the Customs Department, and is relieving Mr. Ecclesfield, who is about to enjoy a month’s leave. During Mr. Manson’s career as a footballer he rendered his province great service, but when at the top of his form he was unfortunate enough to have his leg broken in a memorable contest between the old rivals—■'Wellington and Auckland. During Mr. Manson’s stay at Hokitika he is going to interest himself in the different teams, and will attend the gymnasium to coach those who are willing to profit by his experience and ability. When- playing Mr. Manson was regarded as one of the keenest forwards in Wellington, as well as the wiliest of wingers.
